Most Depressed Countries 2025 – Live Global Mood Snapshot

This page highlights countries that, based on live user submissions to the Global Emotions Index, show a higher share of negative emotions such as sadness, hopelessness, or chronic stress during 2025.

Important Disclaimer

The information on this page is based on voluntary, anonymous submissions on globalemotionsindex.com. It is not a clinical diagnosis and should not be treated as an official ranking of mental health or depression rates.

Instead, it offers a live, crowdsourced signal of where negative emotions are being reported more frequently on our platform.

How the Rankings Are Estimated

To estimate which countries appear “most depressed” in 2025, the platform:

  1. Counts all emotion submissions per country.
  2. Identifies submissions classified as negative (for example: sad, lonely, anxious, angry).
  3. Calculates the share of negative emotions relative to total submissions.

Countries with a higher percentage of negative emotions over a defined time window are temporarily listed near the top of this ranking.

Why These Numbers Should Be Read Carefully

The sample of users per country is not equal and may be very small in some regions. A country with only a few submissions can appear skewed if they are mostly negative.

For a more robust view, you can switch to the full statistics panel, filter by date, and compare countries with a higher number of total entries.
